Title: Spring Forward, Fall Back
Author: LM Simpson (Kady the Red Panda)
Fandom(s): Spirou et Fantasio, Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Pairing(s): N/A
Rating: K+
Word Count: 950-ish
Warning(s): death, angst, some language
Summary: His cousin was eaten by a familiar, the magical girl died trying to save him, and his best friend became a witch. Why is Fantasio even trying to fight anymore? Prompt: Revision. Spirou/Madoka crossover, Post Aux Sources du Z.
Disclaimer: I do not own Spirou and Madoka. If I did I'd be as surprised as you.
Other tidbits:
Aux Sources du Z's ending is irritating, especially because it was the creation team's last output. And the fact it's numbered means it's technically canon. Short of like three very minor things in it I hate it. I started thinking of things better than "Aux Sources" ending and "Fantasio making a contract with Kyubey in some AU where magical boys exist" was one of them. Of course, it'd only make things worse, considering it's bloody Kyubey.  There's some episode 10 and Homura influence in here BTW.

I don't get it. Granted, I don't understand humans at all, nor do I care. But Fantasio is a mystery even for me.

Two old men he considered friends (or, at least the older one) were marked by a witch and jumped off a building together after their  female friend died. His cousin died shortly afterward, when he was eaten by a witch's familiar. Fantasio tried to grab him out of the thing's mouth even after it chomped him in half for some reason. It was clear the man was to die. Once a familiar has a mere human in its reach it will kill it. And then a couple weeks later Samhain, the most powerful witch to appear in Europe since World War II appeared and Sophie died after a building fell on her and crushed her soul gem when she pushed him and Spirou out of the way.

Oh, yes, Spirou. He had so much more potential as a magical person than Fantasio ever did, even if his wish was to save a squirrel. Not even another human. A rodent. I will never understand humans. Their compassion extends to other, inferior species. But going back to Spirou. When he finally defeated Samhain he became a witch even greater that Samhain. It will take him fourteen days to destroy the world with his power, much weaker than a female witch's ten days because for some reason the male ones have less power, but destroy it he will if no one else defeats him first.

Fantasio, back in his civilian clothes, is on his knees amongst what used to be this part of Brussels, clutching his chest, and crying right now. Why? He should be happy right now, if anything. The Spirou he knew died the most prestigious way for a magical person on any planet to die. Spirou, whether he knew it or not, sacrificed himself to save the universe. I believe we have delayed entropy by a further billion years. We have reached our quota for this planet and will leave before it finally collapses onto itself like a mini dimension.  Of course, we can't take Fantasio or any other human because this is his and their problem now. But at least the universe is saved for now!

Oh! Now he's getting up!

I will admit, I never quite understood what his power was. Every magical person has skills that were a product of their wishes. Sophie's was telekinesis and super speed, as she wished to be a reporter more than anything and wanted to know everything when it happened. Spirou's was speed healing, as he wished for the squirrel to survive some terminal illness. Fantasio's though...

"Excuse me, Fantasio? I cannot hear you from here. Can you speak up?"

Fantasio, still sniffling, glares at me as he comes closer. A flash of blue light and he's back in his magical boy uniform, one that's reminiscent of a storybook prince and blue all over except for a red cape and boots and gold accents all over. His soul gem formed into a blue round jewel in the center of his chest and has a matching blue shield with gold rim and other markings on his left forearm.

"You called for me, Incubator?" He's apparently very angry to see me.

"Yes."

He pulls a sword from behind him and points it at me. "Why would you ever give a damn of knowing what I think anyway? You didn't even tell me this sort of shit would happen if I made that wish with you."

"Clearly you're fine enough if you haven't turned into a witch yourself."

He growls. "You really don't know anything, do you?"

I hear a rumble not from Spirou and his familiars slowly disentigrating what's left of Brussels. Then I see his shield is similar in design to a watch. The gold is glowing with a blue tint that makes it look green and the hands are moving backwards.

Of course. It all made sense now. He had wished for "to make things right" when he explained his wish to the newly contracted Spirou. His magic, his special magic, it was...

"Time travel? You can do that?"

Now a blue aura forms around him. Still angry he answers:

"Wow, it really took you that long? Sometimes you surprise me. Of course it is. And looking back I should've asked to go back to time so I can kill that Flanner woman that started it all. I don't give a damn anymore what the hell it would've done to my soul. I'm already damned as far as I know and she would've died of cancer soon anyway. Zorglub just couldn't bear for her to die even though she needed to and that's how I got into this damn mess. "

The hands are moving faster backwards. Fantasio chokes once before continuing, clearly angry and fighting in vain the urge to cry. "I've saved Zantafio, and the Count and Zorglub, a couple of times. I can't save Seccotine from becoming a magical girl because you tricked a thirteen year old girl into making a devil's pact but I can save her from dying I'm sure. Spip, just send him to the vet when I get back. Spirou, though? I haven't saved him yet, but I'll make sure he'll never make a contract with you. Even if I have to go through a thousand timelines or die trying. Anything to keep my friend from suffering because of you. I hope you rot in hell."

And with that, he's now gone. I smell smoke behind me and sirens starting to scream.

Oh well. As I already said it's the human's problem now. Time for me to go.
