Title: We Need to Talk About Sherman
Author: LM Simpson (Kady the Red Panda)
Pairing(s): Tintin/Spirou
Rating: K
Warning(s): mpreg, very improbable crossover
Word Count: about 1600
Summary: Prompt: revision. Sometimes it's just better to just say something now than later.
Disclaimer: Spirou, Tintin, and Mr Peabody are all their respective copyright owner's property. I'm only borrowing the characters for a tea party.
Other tidbits:
Yep, this is definitely not a joke headcanon anymore. I doubt it's true at all but it's very interesting, I have to say. My last fanfiction for this had Spirou and Tintin deciding to wait to tell Sherman what his past was. This is an alternative version where they collaborate with Mister Peabody to make sure it's okay for them to explain together to Sherman what his past is.

Subj: your son

Dear Mister Peabody,

You do not know me personally (or perhaps not at all) but my name is Tintin.  I was a famous journalist before I quietly retired about ten years ago. My reason in writing to you is to confirm that you did indeed adopt your human son, and if so how. My apologizies if this question sounded too blunt. This is my first time hearing about it (I was suffering from horrible depression when you and Sherman were first in the news) and I would like to learn more.

Thank you,

Tintin

Re: your son

Mister Tintin,

Unfortunately, I have never heard of you until now. A Google search was required to discover that you were from Belgium, so I believe that is why.

I can indeed confirm that Sherman is my adopted son. I found him in a cardboard box when he was an infant. Legal proceedings to adopt him were difficult but fortunately swift. Around the time I rescued Sherman I was in the throes of depression as well, and I feel that finding and adopting him helped me recover exponentially.  He has been a blessing for me.

I am also interested in knowing this, Mister Tintin--did Sherman and I recently make the news worldwide, including your native Belgium?

Re: Re: your son

Dear Mister Peabody,

Thank you for getting back to me. May I first ask that you also CC this to my friends Spirou and Fantasio (you can see the email address atop)? They are fellow, current journalists and would like to correspond with us eventually, especially Spirou. Thank you.

But yes, I recently found out that after the recent events that happened to Sherman and you that the discussion over whether a dog should raise a child resurfaced. Also something about a time machine... However learning more about you and Sherman is more of a priority to me than that. The fact a dog has been raising a child since infancy is quite fascinating and interesting, I must admit. My own dog Snowy is quite intelligent so that is not surprising to me; it's how a dog can nurture and care for a child is what I truly would like to learn about. Is he happy? Is he healthy? Is he being taking care of as he needs to be? Does he know where he came from, and how far he's gotten if the case?

Tintin

PS- Would it be easier to do a live chat with Spirou and me rather than email? Skype perhaps?

Mr. Tintin,

I do not see why not about the live chat. I do have one. Screen name is same as in my email. Let us meet up when a time is good for all three of us.

greatsnakes: hello
waybackdog: hello
greatsnakes: May we wait for Spirou to come? He should be here anytime
waybackdog: I don't see why not

squirrelboy is online

greatsnakes: Hi Spirou
squirrelboy: Sorry I'm late
squirrelboy: on my lunch break atm so can't be here long
squirrelboy: Fanta will cover for me if I'm late
greatsnakes: oOkay
waybackdog: Fanta?
squirrelboy: friend of mine. Well, ours. But my best friend so yeah
waybackdog: Ah, I thought it was a soda
waybackdog: Now shall we begin?
greatsnakes: sure
squirrelboy: of course
waybackdog: I would like to ask a question... Especially to Tintin...
waybackdog: Why the fascination with my son? I find it a tad suspicious, borderline offensive, disturbing even, to question me about my son like you have to the point of leaning toward privacy invasion. For the record he's happy, healthy, well fed, doing relatively well in school, especially history. It should be of no matter asking where he came from when he's far better off than he could've been dying in that box. Why Sherman? Why not a Belgian child?

...

waybackdog: Gentlemen, it's been ten minutes
waybackdog: I wish to be answered

...

greatsnakes: The truth is, Mr Peabody...
greatsnakes: Sherman is my son...
squirrelboy: ...OUR son
greatsnakes: yes, it's hard to believe, but he's ours
greatsnakes: biologically, that is
squirrelboy: we can prove it... I have a pic on my  computer hard drive...

waybackdog: Is this a joke? It looks exactly like him!
greatsnakes: It's not a joke. I have a whole folder on this computer...

waybackdog: My word... It's not a joke. This "Francis" in the file names is Sherman's spitting image! I'm sure it took a lot of work to help bring him to life. How could you two be so cruel to abandon him like you did?
squirrelboy: He was our first and ONLY child. We were orphans too. It was one of the things we had in common when we became a couple. Why would we ever abandon our child? HOW DARE YOU for saying that
greatsnakes: Spirou, please...
greatsnakes: Mr Peabody, it shouldn't matter that we're a same sex couple, or how the boy was conceived. Sherman was six months old when he was kidnapped. We paid the ransom  but we never found out what happened to him.
squirrelboy: We thought he was DEAD
greatsnakes: When we found out about Sherman... Everyone was overjoyed. We really did think we lost him forever. Now that we know what happened to our baby boy... It's been the best news for years. Words don't describe how much pain was gone off our shoulders after we learned the news, Mister Peabody. I asked those questions so that we could know how he was doing. I'm sorry if I offended or alarmed you.
squirrelboy: We don't want to take Sherman away from you. You sound like a great father, and we're honored that you adopted him. Hell you SAVED him. We could never thank you enough for THAT. God forbid something happened to him if someone else found him (or didn't (shudders)).
waybackdog: My words were unwarranted then. Sherman just means the world to me. I would be nothing without him. With all my achievements he was the one that gave me purpose in life. I don't blame you two for being so devastated at losing him.
waybackdog: Would you two like to see Sherman? I'm unsure how to explain to him his past but I feel we can arrange or figure it out.
greatsnakes: Great snakes, you would like to do it?
waybackdog: Of course. Sherman deserves to know, while you two deserve to see him again.

...

waybackdog: Mister Tintin? Mister... Squirrelboy(?)
greatsnakes: Sorry, we were both crying to each other on the phone. We both had to know if we were reading it correctly. We'd be honored. Bless you, Mister Peabody. Bless you so much. We'll come when you think it's best.
