I am alteration, I break apart and recombine
Remainder and reminder, renewal and release
Seasons spring from me: turning, yearning, learning, returning
Tides and tide-pools, torrents tossing, tempests twist and twine.

Synthesis, not stasis, neither symphony nor static
Nothing I encounter will remain as once it was
Spirals uncentered, unsteady, unready, still Song
What corner of what circle will choice and chance maintain?

I am not Fate fixed fast, nor dire, dreadful Doom foretold
Uncertainty is mine, loopholes and blind leaps, surprise
I am old songs heard new, words disturbed and unexpected
Variation, chance and choice and ever, always change.
