Anna’s bad at sneaking out of the palace, even though she gets a lot of practice. There’s always a sweet tart to distract her, or a new painting – which is weird, how are they getting new paintings with the gates closed? - or a hovering servant that catches her before she can even start trying to poke at the mechanisms that hold the doors closed.

Her bedsheet ladder works well, but it only gets her down into the courtyard, and then the maid pulls it back up into the window.

That’s okay, she can always try again tomorrow.
