The sun creeps slowly across the sky. Feng Zhiwei can hear the distant sounds of revelry, almost entirely drowned by the lapping of waves against the dock. It would be peaceful, if her mind weren't awhirl.

The tiny pavilion is a cage she paces, back and forth to the locked gate. She'd like to think herself a tiger, but she's been trapped as easily as a housecat .

Do you have the courage? The tailor's words mock her.

Housecat she may be, but Zhiwei has never been a mouse. She tests the water's depth, takes a breath -- and leaps in.
