Summary: Creating a ward for a favorite place takes two.

"Love, what are you doing?" Nerdanel wandered over to Feanor's 'Special Projects' workbench, where he was working very intently, hands moving, stilling, humming a note, staring at whatever it was as if his gaze alone would make something happen, or solve some problem.

"I am designing a protective ward for the China Shop Gallery and Tea House, where your sculpture of the otter drinking tea is. Someone nearly broke it yesterday, quite by accident, but still." It was his 'Oh! I know!' mode, and she was delighted to see it.

Nerdanel peered over Feanor's shoulder at the tiny model of the building and the even tinier representation of the sculpture. He was weaving wire that seemed to be composed of light and Song as much as metal. "I think you need some supports -- fence-posts; No, sprues!"

"To channel the energy, yesI That is exactly what it needs."

Nerdanel looked at the construction as intently as Feanor had, "It works on sympathy and similarity, not stasis or contagion. A guard-rail, not armour; that's clever.

And presently they were both watching intently as a shimmer of light like lace enfolded the model.

Elsewhere in the city, a like shimmer embraced the gallery-cafe.
