Summary: He meditates facing the distant horizon that he knows his other half is traveling through.


On the surface of the table before Lan Zhan, sits an opened letter. He has read this letter many times over, but somehow it still makes his heart faster despite knowing the contents of it already.

In the distant horizon beyond of the boundaries of Gusu, he faces this direction in his meditations knowing that this is the direction that his beloved is traveling in.

Coming back to him.

Wei Wuxian had said that he would return, but not when that time would be as they were parted. He longs for the closeness of simply being near his soulmate that had grown between them in their travels. So he waits, listening for information about the other half of himself as their Sizhui listened for news in town with his friends, when he was not in lessons.

But now he had the confirmation of a return so desired.

“Father? What did it say?”

He looks up from the letter to their son sitting on the other side of the table, inclines his head slightly with an almost smile on his face. “Your father is coming back to us, Sizhui. He’ll be home soon.”

Silently, he watches as the small grin on their son’s face becomes bigger and brighter, warming the room around the two of them like a small sun.
