The fire glimmers in the black of her eyes. Normally, given Danny's association with the Summer Society, that would be a worrying thought, conjuring the imminent anticipation of pitchforks and other sharpenable instruments, like chair legs, in Carmilla's immediate vicinity - but in this instance both fire and reflection are quite literal.

(Not that that in itself is intrinsically safe - Carmilla can think of a few situations where it isn't, especially at Silas - stakes and being tied to them, for example - when the literal and metaphorical collide.)

And yet, regardless of all potential to the contrarywise, this is not one of those times. This time, there is only wide-eyed awe and a fireplace big enough to roast an ox in - big enough to keep them tasty as marshmallows through the wind and snow of the coming blizzard. Tomorrow's skiing is almost superfluous in comparison to the opportunity for blankets and hot flagstone and snuggles.
