The Doctor grinned to himself as he watched his two former companions dance together. He had waited a long time for this day to come, and it was wonderful to see them so happy. They were older than the last time he had seen them, and rather calmer too. He chuckled, thinking that Nyssa had been a good influence on Tegan.

They had got in contact with him through Sarah Jane, using Mr Smith to send him an invitation. His contribution had been to throw them a lavish feast, wanting to make everything as different as possible from the stiff formality of celebrations of old on Gallifrey.

Unnoticed by him, Sarah slipped into a chair beside him. “My feet are killing me,” she complained. “Why did I let Tegan talk me into wearing heels?”

He laughed. “Love a wedding, though.”
