I was inspired by fancy gold illumination in old manuscripts and the elaborate Celtic knots of the Book of Kells.

I found a pattern on Ravelry that showed how to take two crocheted cords and turn them into a Celtic knot. But I'm a knitter first, so I adapted the pattern to use two knitted i-cords.

In the original pattern, the two cords are caught together with jewelry findings I don't actually have. So I un-knitted parts of the i-cord and then knitted them back together as a single strand coming out either side of the knot. So two 3-stitch i-cords became a single 6-stitch i-cord.

Then I borrowed a jewelry clasp, a set of pliers, and some copper wire from my partner and made my very first hand-made o-rings to join the clasp to the ends of the bracelet.

(If I did it over again, I'd probably join the i-cords right at the edge of the knot, and make the whole thing slightly shorter so it's tighter on my wrist. But those are quibbles.)

Overall, I'm very happy with this prototype!
