It is possible to die in this land. Not just possible: likely. And death is to be preferred over some other possibilities. But that isn't a deterrent. It had been possible -- though unlikely -- to die in Valinor. (Witness the reason for coming to Beleriand in the first place. None of us have forgotten Finwë.) Sometimes I think that death might be a relief, for some, for a time. Perhaps that's what Mandos is actually for: rest, recovery, not punishment. I don't know. I haven't been there. I have hope, though, that I will see my brothers again, my father. Someday.
