I am a big fan of stories with good dialogue, so it's no surprise that I love podfic readers with great character voices. kalakirya is wonderful here, bringing an airy weakness to Shen Wei that fits perfectly with the story. Her timing is amazing, lingering at times like a lazy stream and then tumbling out more quickly for contrast. This is a cute story, and kalakirya reads it very, very well.

The first time Zhao Yunlan and Shen Wei met was while they were both petting Da Qing, so it was only reasonable that Da Qing got invested into their relationship right from the start. Also, Shen Wei’s first words to Zhao Yunlan were “This is a very intelligent cat,” which was the best and most appropriate come-hither line anyone ever used on anyone about anything, end of discussion. Da Qing just prayed that Zhao Yunlan wouldn’t fuck this up.

Did I mention how much I love great character voices? This one's from Da Qing's perspective, and oh, Tassos reads it so well! Da Qing is such a strong character, and Tassos does a wonderful job of bringing out his perspective. The story floats along beautifully, and I laughed so much.

Have you ever just wanted to roll around in a good story for days? This podfic is for you! I don't often have the attention span for longer audio works, but this is SO GOOD. Possibly because this is read by the story author, but I found it to be closer to what the original story sounded like in my head than most podfic. But Naye is so engaging, and so wonderful at bringing out the emotion of the story, that I couldn't help but love it.
