Summary: Maedhros, re-embodied, sets out on a journey.

It was a journey seemingly of ‘You can’t get there from here.' Lame horses, absent horses, directions consisting entirely of landmarks that had not yet existed when he was in Aman those long ages past, that had come and gone in the interim (turn left where Mardolien's barn used to be -- who was Mardolien, and what did his no longer extant barn have to do with anything?) And that was not even counting the ford too deep to cross on foot, the landslip covering the track halfway up the way to the mountain pass, and numerous other annoyances large and small.

He would almost think the difficulties aimed at him, but for the not inconsiderable inconvenience to others in no wise connected to him except by the (mis)chance of proximity. Surely the Ainur were not that petty? (Except he knew they could be exactly that petty; though not usually so indiscriminate.) But he was re-embodied in a form unhindered by hurt, blessed with strength, and very determined. Also annoyed, which only made him more resolute.

He would go to where his heart was, as so many times his friend had gone, resolute, valiant, too often beyond hope, for him.
