Barret stares at the wreckage in the park, empty and numb.
Yesterday, this place was quiet and empty. Yesterday Sector 7 was fine, the people on the ground were living their lives. There were cats everywhere, children laughing... they hadn’t had much. But they’d been happy.
Today... now it was all burning. People had gotten out, yeah, but the slums... they were gone. Crushed, burning... the people on the topside had fallen too, and who knew how many of them had survived? He didn’t want to say he’d told them so anymore.
If only they could go back to yesterday.
