Summary: What is a self-portrait anyway?

Nerdanel had never drawn or sculpted a self-portrait. She saw no reason to: her art, her Work, was to capture, construct, reveal the image, the form, of what she saw, experienced, imagined. She made technical sketches using her own hroa as a base occasionally, but that was to solve a problem, nothing to do with herself, her flesh or spirit. Other people -- and there were no few she could call on -- were much more interesting to observe, model, serve as inspiration, seed and source.

Her body of work spoke for her, static and dynamic, clay and metal, stone and sons.

I love the accuracy of your words and your character’s thoughts. And ah, the surprise of the last word!
