Summary: We met by chance.

life is a string of coincidences,

every event a line that could have been avoided if you were there a second too early or a second too late,

if you had made one different choice, or if the stars didn't align, perhaps your life would be much different than it is now

the stars align in april with aries rising,

and you are messaging me anonymously—

a thousand coincidences could have happened;

your messages not coming through,

me never getting to replying to them,

me never telling you to come off anonymity.

but i did.

the coincidental nature of us meeting never fails to warm me;

the way our souls intertwine over one, two messages i felt like i connected with.

just about an interest in common.

and that's all it took, to fall in love with you

a coincidence with the stars aligned, luck on the side of love, betting on tails and it coming out just like that

i owe a lot to the concept of coincidence,

and to the thought of if they even really exist—

is fate a thing? predestination? a fixed timeline?

perhaps we were fated-predestinated to meet, the spiderwebs of our lives meeting right at that precise moment,

whoever is pulling the strings above us pushing our puppets together as one might in a romcom—

(slamming upon each other and, oh, papers everywhere! expensive and extensive apologies, hands grabbing one of the papers at the same time, blood rushing to our cheeks.)

but coincidence makes it sound like an accident. a happy accident, as one painter might call it.

i am happy with fate or predestination, of timelines and realities interwoven, each and every one of them ever so slightly different from the next and from the one before.

but i enjoy the idea of this timeline the most.

because we met in this one

in a very, very happy accident.
