Ilverin liked being in the background: even aside from the fact that he disliked the glare and pinned-to-one-spot sensation of finding himself the center of attention, and that others were vastly more suited to the task, the expense and siphoning away of energy that position entailed, it was ever so much easier to get things done with quiet negotiation, observation, a certain light-footed grace. He enjoyed pulling off minor miracles without fanfare, providing what was needed just as it was asked for, solving problems before they became crises. He liked being crew, not captain, on the ship of Fingon's estate.
