"What," Donatello inquired, one eyeridge raised in critical question, "is that?"

Raphael snorted and rolled his eyes. "Mikey's latest stupidity in action." He swatted the back of their little brother's dome-shaped head.

"Hey!" Mikey cried in protest. Bits of egg and strawberry jam dribbled from his mouth. "Don't knock it 'til you've tried it, bro!"

"Michelangelo," Leonardo's stern voice cut sharply into the brothers' conversation, "this is what you spend your time doing instead of showing up for our morning training session?!"

Mikey's stomach rumbled in complaint even as he snapped the pizza box closed. "I was hungry, bro! Can't concentrate on beating the pretend Shredhead when all I wanna do is beat my stomach."

"Where'd you get then box from?" Raphael asked, curious despite his better judgement. "I know ain't no place selling that damn pie!"

"Michelangelo . . . "

All four turtles snapped to attention at the sound of their Sensei's voice.

"Is breakfast ready?" The old rat's tail swished.

"Tada!" Mikey opened the box. "My newest creation, Sensei!"

Splinter sighed but reached in for a piece of pie nonetheless. He should have known that, after cornflakes, everything else for a traditional breakfast could not be long away from a pizza crust.
