Star Trek AOS: Poem: Relative Direction

  • Sep. 8th, 2013 at 4:36 AM
Title: Relative Direction
Fandom: Star Trek: AOS
Rating: pg
Length: 200ish words
Content notes: nothing to warn for
Author notes: I made myself sad. But then I fixed it.
Summary: Bones doesn't understand Kirk and Spock's relationship.

Honestly.

I'm good, Bones. I'm happy.

(You'll never believe me when I tell you that, will you?)

No, it's true-

"I was incomplete before you, my Jim."

isn't something he'd ever say. He does say:

"Your understanding of Vulcan relationships is incomplete, Captain."

I try to think of what he might need that a human wouldn't but

I really struggle to figure out what he wants.

He's good to me. I want to be the same for him.

I should be able to anticipate things like that by now.

We've been together almost a year, for god's sake.

Birthdays aren't a Vulcan thing, you know. I never expected a gift from him; nothing.

And that's what he got me! It's funny:

A perfect birthday gift from my super logical Vulcan.

(Spending all day alone together, lazy and indulgent...)

(Breathing each other's air under the blankets...)

(Eating birthday cake in my underwear while he plays his harp thing...)

(Saying the sappiest things I can think of and teasing when he blushes...)

that's what I wish for the most for my birthday.

I know it's hard for you to imagine, but

if you gave him a chance I think you would be good friends.

I love him, Bones, and

This is what I want.

^ ^ ^

I'm sorry, I'm sorry! But wait! The poem isn't over! Now go back and read it backwards, from bottom to top, starting with the last line and ending with the first. It's much nicer that way. =)
