It's reckless, to sit behind Zhao Yunlan on his motorcycle as he speeds off into the night for no reason but the joy of it. There is so little between their skin and the rough surfaces of the world, so little preventing disaster but reflexes and the emptiness of the road at this late hour.

A low moon hangs in the sky, stars brightening as they pass into the shadows beyond the city's edge.

It is reckless, but Zhao Yunlan's laughter carries back to him with the wind whipping past them, and for once, Shen Wei can't find it in himself to protest.
