Claustrophobia is not a fear I have, I actually find small spaces very comforting, but I do have mild arachnophobia, so I tried to imagine those same feelings applied to the situation. I think it worked? Maybe?

Author notes: I recently finished reading Kij Johson's exquisite fantasy novel "The Fox Woman", set in Heian-era Japan and based on several fox legends, in which a human falls in love with a fox who has transformed into a human. I loved the story, but it ended on a bit of a question mark, and so I thought I'd take a look at at one answer to that question. There's also a little bit of Akira Kurosawa's "Rashomon", since I have three different takes on the same events.
