Blake stares at the blank page of her notebook, turning the pen over and over in her hand. Excitement and hesitation warring within her. Her hand was itching to put words on the paper, but she was afraid she would not be able to get them right. There were too many places to start her tale, and she could not decide between them. Blake let out a frustrated groan as she saw the sun start to set. Her team members would be coming back to their room shortly to collect her for dinner. She was really looking forward to writing today. Blake was so consumed by shame, she failed to notice her partner entering the room.

“Hey, Blake! How did writing go today?” Yang’s voice broke her out of her thoughts. She turned in Yang’s direction, but could not meet her eyes, and sighed. Yang’s grin dropped, “That bad, huh?” She sat next to her girlfriend on the bed and wrapped her arms around her. “You’ll figure it out, Blake. You always do.”

As silence fell over them, Blake got more comfortable and snuggled closer into Yang. While rubbing her cat ears, Yang quietly spoke into her human ones, “I told Ruby and Weiss that we’d meet them for dinner, but we don’t have to if you don’t want to.”

“Can we stay here for a little while?”

“Of course.”

They arrived at the cafeteria just as Weiss was about to call Yang to ask about the delay. While eating with her friends, Blake accepted that she did not get any writing done today. The day was not a waste because she still got to hang out with people who cared for her.
