Author notes: I binged this show during the last two days, this is my first fic for it, I don't know how well I did, but hey, it's here now. Also fills the 'Doorway' square in my FFW bingo card.
Summary: Eleanor's internal monologue about her note.



I’ve found out that finding something you don’t remember writing is a really weird experience.

I don’t know what’s going on, but I’m in Heaven— or well, The Good Place, as the case might be— and that weird robot lady came to me with a note that’s clearly in my handwriting. What the heck is a Chidi— oh I can’t even swear in my mind. That’s just forking fantastic. What or who is a Chidi, and what did past me want to do with it?

Considering the note was here in the Good Place, it means whoever or whatever is Chidi is here too. I sure hope so. I need to figure this out, and I need to find Chidi. If it’s a soup well, I guess I’ll drink it all up. Past me knows what she was doing, even if all she was doing is writing something right before I promptly forgot it.

Why did I forget it, anyway? How in the heck did this happen? I’m not meant to be here in the Good Place, and I know it, and past me knew it, and this Chidi will help me. I hope. I think.

As the day passes I talk to more people, and no one seems to suspect me. Michael is a nice guy, and I’m sure it’s just been a minor screw up until he tells me I’m the number one point-getter in the neighborhood— now this is a major screw up. I don’t know anything about the environment! I don’t care about those children in Ethiopia or wherever! What am I supposed to say at Tahani’s party? What can I possibly say?

I stay at the doorway of her house, the note still in my pocket. I will find whoever or whatever this Chidi is, and I will wing that gosh darn speech. Ugh, I hate how I can’t swear even in my forking thoughts.

I step inside Tahani’s place, and I’m given the sash.

This is going to be a long night.
