Henry blinks at her alarm and reminds herself: the doctor said that everything that happened is normal. Even the blackouts. The missing time. They're just side effects of her seizures, and the new pills will make those go away.

It feels like a lie, but Henry's used to that. Even true things feel fake sometimes.

So she heads downstairs to smile at her mother over breakfast. The sun is shining; it's a new day. She'll go to school today like any other teenager. Maybe she'll even make a friend.

If she pretends hard enough, Henry can believe that everything's fine.
