"I hate living on a ship." Sara buried her face in her bunk. "Everything is - ow - literally putting salt into a wound." Seawater to clean. Alcohol to sterilize. Whatever happened to gentle warm water and hot towels? Ugh. Nyssa finished dressing Sara's wounds and moved to lay down beside her. Her hand rubbed warm, soothing circles into the back of Sara's neck. Helpless. "You shouldn't have said it was you."

"Well, I wasn't going to let you take it now, was I?"

"Sara, you know I can protect myself."

"Yes. But you didn't steal that amulet, that kid did and he wasn't going to give it back. You were finally relaxed while having fun with those kids. I couldn't let gang members ruin that." Sara grinned, cheekily. "Besides, I never could run from a fight." Nyssa chuckled, "That is why you must train harder. You should be able to win every fight, especially one against amateur gang members." Her gaze softened and she pressed her lips to Sara's forehead. "Thank you, little bird. Now rest, you need it."

Sara watched Nyssa leave her cabin. She knew that Nyssa had darkness inside her, she was Heir to the Demon after all, but she had light inside her as well. She was the angel that saved her life. Sara's last thought before falling asleep was of Nyssa's smile and how she wanted to see it again.
