„So, you will go to College after summer, huh? MIT? Good choice.“

Surprised Casey looked up from his book. All the years he had shared the bleachers with Zeke almost every lunch break and the boy had never taken any notice of him. Not sure what to think about this twist, he finally nodded. „Yeah, computer science and physics.“

„I bet, good old Furlong is proud of his brilliant protégé. Not many students from Herrington High make it to a college like the MIT.“

„I was surprised that they accepted me,“ Casey admitted,“ and even offered a full scholarship. Otherwise, I would probably have ended at the city college of Akron.“ He paused and sighed slightly. „I know, it a great chance, but it won't be easy to leave everything behind. My parents, the photo club. Everything that means something to me.“

Zeke smirked. „Oh, c'mon, an exciting adventure is lying ahead of you. Anything is better than a boring life in Ohio. The cut and dried opinions, the closemindedness. When you are not willing to follow the rules you are lost.

Now you have the chance to overstep the lines and find out what you want.“

„I'm not adventurous like you are, Zeke, I always knew how my future would look like. And MIT was not part of the plan.“

„It's the unexpected what makes your life interesting. For a long time, I didn't know what I would do after graduation. Not staying here, for sure not. Maybe Miami or the west coast. I always preferred the long, hot summer and nights at the beach. And you can find a job in a garage everywhere.“

„You are much too smart to spend your life working in a garage,“ Casey protested.

Zeke chuckled slightly. „But it's what I love to do. Though things have slightly changed lately.“

„You will go to college? That's a good decision.“

„I'm thinking about to move to Boston.“

Casey coughed surprised. „What? But why? The winter in Boston is long and cold. And I guess you will look for the beach in vain.“

Zeke watched him for a long while before answering. „But it has its points.“ And before Casey could react, he bent forward to kiss him. „I wanted to do this for quite a while already, you know.“
