"I don't know how you stand those suits," Rhodey had texted, once the dust had settled. "This one's really uncomfortable."

Tony had never answered him. His suits weren't luxuries, they were part of him. Making them comfortable would mean him being comfortable in his own skin, and if he was comfortable he'd get complacent. He'd thought Rhodey would get that.

It was after the surgery when he realized he was wrong. Comfort didn't have to mean weakness. He hadn't needed something deadly inside of him to do the right thing. He'd needed the right motivation... and he had it.
