Original: Poetry: Silver Bullet

Title: Silver Bullet
Fandom: Original
Challenge: Murder (although it went a little sideways)
Rating: PG
Length: 14 lines
Summary: A metaphorical sonnet about the easy way.

I’d love to be sniper for a day:
To analyse and watch beneath a veil
Cross-calculate the wind, await my prey
Breathe in and ease the trigger... then exhale
One shot; one kill; one simple bullet fired
To fix a problem writ in black and white
So clean and neat, no second guess required
No different points of view to wrong and right.
But silver bullets cannot heal, nor build,
Nor nurture what is there, though it take years
If there were easy answers, I’d be thrilled
To find a road not soaked with sweat and tears
I have no rifle, scope, nor easy mark
But strive, though I am shooting in the dark

Yes, sometimes it would be so good just to fire a simple bullet and solve whatever problem is in front of us.
