Astronomy, Original; Fanfic: Strange Sights

Title: Strange Sights
Fandom: Astronomy
Rating: G
Length: 100
Content notes: N/A
Author notes: Thanks go to Zana, Morgynleri & Icka for encouragement & sanity-checking. Hat-tip to John Donne for the title. A three words from a hat piece. (And there aren't really galaxies shaped like this -- nebulas maybe, but this is what fell out of my fingers.)
Summary: An unlikely pair

There is a galaxy shaped like a squid. Another like a teapot. Neither of these shapes are reasonable for galaxies — nebulas perhaps, or star clusters, but not galaxies. However did they get that way? Surely they hadn't formed naturally. Galaxies form spirals and globes, not squids and teapots. But what force or power, multitude or individual could do such a thing? Time-lords? The Valar? The Q? What universe-spanning entity would even think of such absurdity?

Is it only an artifact of our point of view, peculiar to our limited perception? Or is a galactic cephalopod pouring a cuppa even now?

I do like the idea of the squid having their cup of tea.
