Summary: Lucifer thinks about his life on earth



Like so often before he went down to the LUX for another long night Lucifer was standing in front of the big mirror in his dressing room, the expensive suit carelessly tossed on the chair beside him. Thoroughly watching his naked body. In excellent shape. Almost perfect. If there wouldn't be the two large, deep-red scars on his back. He could still feel the heat burning and the pain of the moment when Mazikeen had cut off his wings.

It had happened some days after he had left hell behind to find out more about the living on earth. Though big and impressing, it would have been easy for him to hide the wings from every human being, he was a master of disguise. But he ached for a final decision. The wings only reminded him of the existence he had left behind.

Maze had tried her best to convince him otherwise. The demoness was his loyal companion since he could remember, since the dawn of time. She had been at his side in heaven, and when his father decided to make him the keeper of hell, she hadn't hesitated to follow him down.

He had never begged her to be disobedient and to come with him when he decided that after hundreds and hunderts of years it was time for something new. But he was not surprised when she showed up beside him when he opened the gates of hell.

„You are going to make a terrible mistake,“ she had told him when he asked her to cut off his wings, and she had looked anxiously.

But he had been wildly resolved. Afterward, Maze had kneeled in the sand, next to the two big wings, so white and so beautiful, her fingers glided over the soft feathers, and she had had tears in her eyes. Lucifer had felt weak and exhausted, a feeling so new for him, but at the same time relieved and strangely free.

In the meantime, he had learned that cutting off his wings alone didn't make him human. There was so much he still needed to learn. Most strange: human feelings. He was known as a wealthy guy, the owner of one of the most exclusive nightclubs of New York, he knew to organize the best parties, and he had learned to love good, old Whisky, piano music... and every kind of sex. For some time he had thought that this was real life. So much better than the dreary monotony of hell.

Then he had met her. Detective Chloe Decker. And she had turned everything around. Much more than he wanted to admit. She was different than everyone else he had ever met before. Demons and angels, men and women. Not impressed by his richness, his beauty, and his smart comments. Immune to his charm she always looked at him with this irritating mixture of annoyance and amusement.

This morning, when they had met in front of the New York City Police Department, and her bright blue eyes had rested on him once again, he had tried to creep into her mind, read her thoughts and feelings, like he did every day with others. But for the first time in his existence, he hadn't been able to reach the deepest depth in her head. Instead of this, he had felt some kind of... guilty conscience. A strange, new feeling, he couldn't explain.

The door to his dressing room opened, and Maze stepped in. Perfectly styled, as ever. Maybe the demoness was not all too happy about her life on earth, but she knew to make the best out of it.

Not caring about it that he was still naked, she stepped closer, her hand touched one of the red scars on his back. Their eyes met in the mirror.

“She starts to change you.“

He kept quiet. It made no sense to try to hide anything from Maze. She was the only one he could never fool.
