Maggie closed her eyes and rested her head on Glenn's shoulder; she could feel his warmth, could hear him breathing evenly. Suddenly she felt tears burning in her eyes. She knew well enough, this moment of pure detachedness wouldn't last for long. As much as she wished it would stay like this forever. But things changed much too quickly, the moments of peace and happiness were much too rare.

There had been a time where she had hated the stillstand of her life. She had been seventeen, her whole life she had spent on the farm of her family, had visited the Highschool of the small town nearby, had shared first kisses with a boy she already knew for ages. And all she had dreamed about was finally to be able to leave all this behind.

Sie wanted to go College in a big town where the life was bustling; she wanted to watch the newest movies, she wanted to go to clubs and theaters. She wanted to laugh, to flirt, to dance. Every day a new adventure.

The zombie apocalypse had changed everything. Suddenly she couldn't understand anymore why this hectic life had looked so tempting for her.

Now she felt like the happiest woman when she was able to stop the time at least for a while. Some stolen moments together with Glenn, no need to think about tomorrow, no need to look back. Just she and him and endless happiness.

Loud voices in the hall brought her back into reality, people running and yelling. Glenn woke up and freed himself out of her arms. His eyes dark and sad. It was barely time for a fleetingly kiss; then he was gone.

And Maggie was left behind alone; she curled up on her bed and started to cry.
