Lucas had been humming, off and on, since Dorothy shared her music with him. A tune, repeating, and Dorothy thought at first he was remembering.

Until she recognized it, and laughed. Of course.

"What is it?" Lucas asked, mouth half-turned upward to join her.

"That song!" She laughed again, but Lucas frowned. "I mean. I hadn't thought I'd hear it here."

"It's an oath," he said, blue eyes holding hers. "Isn't it?"

Dorothy swallowed hard. "It's a lover's promise," she said slowly. "It's not meant to be taken seriously."

"No?" Lucas ducked his head. "Then you needn't take it seriously."
