Summary: Water reflects

The Mirror of Galadriel and the Mirrormere at the east gate of Khazad-Dum had more in common than just their names. Both reflected more than star and moon and sun, the lights of the incarnate, mundane world. That light was held within their waters as well as reflected back, more than simple vibration, wavelength, particles. The stone that cupped the waters remembered song sung at the Making of the World, and imbued that memory in air and water, light and sight. Mirrors, yes, but also windows, portals, lenses in time and space and spirit. Neither lightly to be looked into.
