Author notes: For [community profile] fan_flashworks Challenge #35, "Elusive or Ephemeral".

I've been experimenting with nail polish and manicures over the past few months, figuring out various things. It's not something I'm very good at yet, but I enjoy it a lot, and I can see definite progress in my abilities. Online tutorials are fantastic for help and ideas. This is one of my first attempts at doing an accent nail with a centered design, and my first ever wearing of alternating colors on my nails.

This week's theme made me think of the Sleeping Beauty film, specifically the scene at the ball where the color of Aurora's dress keeps shifting. Since something ephemeral is, by nature, temporary and fleeting, I thought a manicure that's only intended to be worn for a few days would work for the theme. XD

Larger photos under cut. Apologies for the blurriness, but I'm still figuring out close-up/macro photography, too. >.>

Image description: Photograph of a thumbnail, painted in blue, with a gold crown overlaid in the center.

Image description: Photograph of fingernails, painted in blue on middle and pinky, painted in pink on index and ring. Each nail has a gold stripe across the top in the style of a French manicure.

Colors used:
OPI: You're Such a Kabuki Queen (pink)
Pure Ice: Celestial (blue)
Pure Ice: Excuse Me (gold)

That is really amazing!

I'd love to see a purple nail in there for good measure too!

Hee, thank you! I tried purple, but the only bottle I have is a really cheap one, and it went on so unevenly that I'd have needed six or seven coats to get it opaque. I do want to test out a Maleficent-inspired design, though, so I plan to get a good purple (and a pale green) soonish.

Very cool! I would think you could work up something for a lot of fandoms.
