It had been years since Alice had last done something like this. She was currently lying on her back on soft purple grass, staring up at a star-filled dark-blue sky in the middle of the night. The Knave was lying down right beside her, hands under his head and ankles crossed as if he was simply on a vacation rather than an adventure to save a genie.

“I miss it sometimes,” she said softly. “The moon. I know Wonderland has many great and wonderful things, but my world has a giant, white moon.”

“I know,” Will said from beside her. “I’ve seen it.”

She turned to face him, even though his eyes stayed on the stars above. “You have?”

“Aye,” he said quietly. “And I miss it too.”
