Kon lets out an embarrassing yelping sound, staggering to his left. There’s heat spreading out from the side of his neck, and he’s pretty sure if he were a regular human he’d be in an unconscious heap right now.

It is one hundred percent unfair that Cass can nerve-strike him like that, even with the TTK aura.

He throws a sulky glare at her, and she gives him one of those small, mean little smiles that always make him want to fall to his knees for her.

God, he loves the Black Bat uniform. Not just for how damn cool the cape looks, billowing out around her like something out of a horror movie. Kon can see her face now, see those smiles, and if she ever goes back to a full-face cowl he’ll totally cry over it.

“Tag, you’re it,” she says, smile getting sharper and, oh, it is on.

For someone who’s only human, Cass has no right to be so fast. She evades every swing of his arm like it’s as easy as breathing, and she can make herself so small when she needs to be, such a purposely tiny target.

It takes him a good few minutes to catch her, even with all his powers, and he still has to cheat and reach out with the TTK to hold her still just long enough to get his hands on her. She knows how to make herself hard and pointy, awkward angles that are difficult to get a grip on, but he manages it, holding her just off the roof to keep his leverage.

“Your turn to run,” she tells him, with this soft little exhale of laughter that makes his heart throb in his chest.

“What if I don’t want to run?” he asks, setting them back on the rooftop.

More laughter, even sweeter than before, and Cass grabs him by the ears, hauls him in for a kiss that’s fast and brutal, that makes Kon groan into her mouth.

“I like chasing you,” she whispers and, well, there’s no arguing with that.
