Lois’ arms are tight around Clark’s neck, his arms just as solid and reassuring around her waist. “You know, this is a lot more fun when I’m not falling to my doom,” she murmurs, and Clark’s soft exhale of laughter is a welcome burst of warmth against her lips.

The night air is crisp even on the ground, but as high up as they are now, there’s a real chill to it. Lois is bundled up in her jacket and gloves, and Clark’s heightened body heat makes him one hell of a hot water bottle, which gives her a nice excuse to snuggle deeper into his embrace.

They’re not even moving anymore, just floating in the sky like a slow dance that’s settled into an excuse to simply hold each other.

There’s something about it, about the sensation of isolation around them, the inky black night as far as she can see. It reminds Lois of the feeling of being curled up under her duvet on a cold evening, with a good book and a mug of cocoa. Peaceful and calming, and she presses her face to Clark’s neck, fingers curled in his cape.

She feels his laugh more than hears it. “Your nose is cold,” he whispers, lips moving against her hair.

“You’re an indestructible alien,” she shoots back. “Suck it up, big guy.”

Laughter rumbles in his chest again. “Whatever you say, Ms. Lane.”
