Sherlock's purple shirt wasn't actually solid purple. Up close, one could see that the fabric was shot through with the palest of lilac pinstripes, though Sherlock suspected that few had ever observed this subtle detail. (Mycroft surely had; Mrs Hudson, possibly, given her interest in “doing her colors”; Gavin, highly unlikely, even though observation was supposed to be his job.)

John was certainly close enough to notice the pinstripes, given that he currently had Sherlock backed up against the wall of their sitting room and was undoing the shirt's buttons with his teeth. Sherlock would bet good money that he still hadn't observed them, however. Normal people observed so very little, after all, and were easily distracted by...

Oh!

Sherlock gasped as an unfamiliar sensation, warm and wet, slithered across his bared chest. His gaze shot downward and he watched the top of John's sandy head in astonishment as John licked a slow, deliberate stripe across his skin. John glanced up, eyes alight with mischief.

“Like that, do you?”

“I--I...” Sherlock stammered as speech failed him.

John flashed a wicked little smirk, then sucked Sherlock's left nipple into his mouth while he pressed his palm firmly against Sherlock's crotch.

His earlier train of thought hopelessly derailed (but not missed), Sherlock closed his eyes and let his his head fell back.
