Title: He Loved Uncle More
Fandom: The Silmarillion
Rating: K
Length: 167 words
Content notes: Allusions to starvation
Author notes: N/A
Summary: Thranduil doesn't know what's going on, but Uncle keeps giving him his breakfast, and Mother is screaming that they'll make it until Elu gets back without Uncle sacrificing himself.

Uncle Celeborn always told Thranduil that he didn’t have time for breakfast, while handing him the extra food.

This was confusing, especially the way that his mother would hiss at her brother when she found out, screaming at him (once they all thought he was too far away to hear) that he didn’t need to sacrifice himself, they’d find some way to make it until Elu came back without him doing that.

Indis had smiled sadly when Thranduil had found her to ask, shaking her head and telling him that he was a good boy to worry, but that his Uncle wouldn’t want him to do so.

And Thranduil still didn’t know what was going but, but he thought Uncle was paler than he had been, so he broke the biscuit the next morning and gave the bigger part back, and didn’t struggle away when Uncle kissed him on the head and told him he was a good boy.

He loved biscuits, but he loved Uncle more.
