Strike Back Origins Fanfic: Porterian Math

  • Feb. 19th, 2015 at 11:12 PM
Title: Porterian Math
Fandom: Strike Back Origins
Rating: G
Length: 178 words
Author notes: Anything beyond episode 06 didn’t happen.
Summary: John Porter and odds. Two totally incompatible terms.

John Porter was a mathematics system unto himself. Those who ran the betting pools at Section 20 learned early on that the usual odds were meaningless when it came to Porter.

John Porter plus impossible situations equals implausible success. Acting alone and on a hunch he rescued reporter Katie Dartmouth from terrorists and got the two of them out alive. The odds on that one had been 20 to 1.

On his next mission, he got himself incarcerated in and then broke out of Chikurubi, a high security prison in Zimbabwe. He managed to survive having his cover blown, being hunted by elite forces, and rescuing an orphanage full of children. That whole thing went to hell in a handbasket so fast the betting pool couldn’t even get odds figured before they changed again.

Now, the CIA wanted Porter dead. An Afghani warlord wanted Porter dead. And maybe, just maybe, Major Hugh Collinson, the head of Section 20, wanted Porter dead, too. Currents odds were 15 to 1 in Porter’s favor. Not a single person bet against him.

The odds sound about right.

And I agree with you that after episode 06 things happened differently from what we're led to believe.

I wish Armitage had had time to do more episodes. What bothers me much more than the fact that they killed him off is that John Porter was betrayed yet again. How many times can one poor fellow be set up and betrayed?
