“What are you doing?” Jesse asked, clearly trying to sound casual. Clearly, the blindfold was working, putting in him that sweet spot between fear and anticipation.

Michael smiled. “You’ll see.”

“I can smell the candles.”

“Can you now.” Michael poured some hot wax into a dish to cool, then rubbed some between his fingers to make sure it wouldn’t burn.

He stepped over to Jesse and smeared a long streak of hot white wax on Jesse’s thigh.

Jesse moaned, bit his lip.

“Don’t get too excited, Jesse. We have a long way to go.”

“Bastard,” Jesse mumbled.
