“Now what do we have here?” Finwë looked down over the desk at his grandchildren, noting the mix of defiant and guilty looks, along with Caranthir’s arm planted across Fingon’s face, presumably to keep him from answering.

“Nothing!” Celegorm answered.

“Nothing?” Finwë raised an eyebrow. “And I suppose none of you have any idea where Ingwë’s wine went to?”

All of them shook their heads.

Finwë looked at the red stain on Fingon’s shirt and sighed. “We know you three drank it.”

The defiant looks continued. “Very well. All three of you are to apologize to him, and then you are grounded for a week.”

Celegorm and Caranthir pouted, while Fingon nodded his head.

“Now would be a good time. He will be waiting for you in the sitting room.”

Finwë rubbed his head after his grandchildren left. It was so much easier dealing with adults elves who wanted to smuggle wine and goods between the cities, than it was dealing with insolent grandchildren.
