“Success is sweet, isn’t it, Celeborn?” Gil-galad looked over at him. “We have finally gained some peace after the trials of the First Age, and now we can begin rebuilding our lands once more.”

Celeborn paused his reading and looked up. “Perhaps it is, and yet…”

“And yet…?” Gil-galad said.

“And yet I cannot help but wish that it wasn’t at so high a cost. It leaves a sour taste, to know that we are left to rebuild, but so many dear friends and relatives lie dead under the sea.”

Gil-galad didn’t respond.

Celeborn shook his head and resumed reading.
