Summary: They work together, they celebrate together.


Another successful unmasking, albeit one that involved real monsters as well as a lunatic in a costume. But the day is saved and the people of Coolsville like them again, so Velma considers it a rousing success.

They all played their part, like a well-oiled machine. Velma is the brains, of course. Fred is the take-charge leader. Daphne is the specialist in both combat and image. And Scooby and Shaggy are, well, Scooby and Shaggy.

But it’s teamwork that brought down Jacobo, and it’s with teamwork that they celebrate.

The lab isn’t the only specialised room at the Mystery Inc. headquarters, after all.

The ridiculously huge bed is custom-made, and there are pillows everywhere. Silky purple ones chosen by Daphne. The firm orange corduroy ones Velma prefers. Fred’s red and white and blue striped ones. Shaggy’s green and brown tie-dye ones. And then there’s the pile of fur-covered pillows in the corner where Scooby-Doo’s made his own nest, as dogs tend to do.

They have their own bedrooms, of course, but they always end up in this one after a mystery is solved. Lounging together across the mattress, and Daphne’s smiling as she twines her fingers between Velma’s own, bare leg hooked over Velma’s knees. Velma leans back against Fred’s naked chest, Shaggy’s head pressed against her breasts, his eyes closed and a grin on his lips as he dozes lightly. Warm and sated and safe, and Velma pushes her glasses up her nose, muscles still glowing faintly with pleasure.

Sometimes she wonders how the public would react, if they knew their heroes indulged in this, if they knew Mystery Inc. liked to kiss and touch and feel as a team, the same way they fight crime.

Sometimes she wonders if the public doesn’t already know.

Daphne’s hand creeps across her thigh, and Velma chuckles and fixes Daphne with a pointed look. “Again?” she asks with an exaggerated sigh.

Daphne doesn’t look the slightest bit contrite - all that martial arts training means she has impressive stamina. “It was a really tough case,” she giggles, and Fred laughs, pulls her close and kisses her neck.

“Like, I am totally for another go,” Shaggy agrees sleepily, extracting himself from Velma’s cleavage. “But I need to refuel first, if you know what I mean.”

His stomach gives an loud rumble to punctuate his point.

“Don’t worry, I came prepared,” Fred announces, tilting his head towards the table at the foot of the bed. “I made us a whole platter of - what the heck!?”

It probably was an impressive feast, judging by the number of plates that now stand suspiciously empty of anything but crumbs.

“Ruh-roh,” comes a guilty whimper from beyond the open door, and the sound of paws quickly retreating down the hall.

Their laughter drowns out the next rumble of Shaggy’s stomach.
