Star Trek: Enterprise: Fanfic: Meeting Time

Title: Meeting Time
Fandom: Star Trek: Enterprise
Pairing: Archer/Reed
Author: kayjayuu
Rating: G
Length: 100 words
Content notes: Drabble/freestyle poetry, first person.
Author notes: Written for prompt "The Lost Hour." Pre-slash, Archer's POV. Staffing a starship is hard work, apparently, especially when you're the captain. No beta, which is unusual for me, but I’m trying to just go with it. Partially inspired from Stolen by Julie Moffitt. Critique welcome.
Summary: How Malcolm makes time fly.

My office door --
vastly more interesting
since you passed through.

Enter a captain, soon to be storied,
future set for galaxies unknown,
tethered to discovery;
transformed into a man
yearning for familiarity
within four walls
and you.

Who you are
escapes me as you do.
A well-woven tale
hidden
inside my office door,
walls up
arms down
eyes forward.
Back turned,
exit stage left.

Who I am
remains, undone.

I cannot unsee in your eyes
or unfeel in my depths
the slow burn
I imagine
as I indulge a moment
in what-ifs
and not what-is.

Oh --

The damn meeting.
