“All right, I’ll have a look at it,” he said.  As he examined the paw the werewolf whimpered pathetically.  “It’s okay, it’s just a tiny thorn.  You must have trodden on it as we came back through the woods.  I’ve taken it out now.”

The werewolf continued to hold his paw in the air, a very woebegone expression on his face.

“Don’t tell me, you want it bandaged.”

There was a slight, sad, nod of the head, so Adam took a bandage out of the first aid kit he carried in his car boot, and expertly applied it.  “For a big brave werewolf, you really are a colossal wimp,” he said.

Ros and Jo came over to join them.

“Is everything all right?” Ros asked.

“Yes, perfectly,” Adam replied.  “Ignore the drama queen; there’s nothing wrong with him.”

Jo went over and rubbed the werewolf’s furry head.  “You are a very brave werewolf, you took out the two gunmen all by yourself, so you deserve all the attention you can get.”

The werewolf wagged his tail in agreement.
