Daniel isn’t sure what he was expecting when he decided to come here, but it wasn’t this. Teal’c’s quarters are lit by what seem to be hundreds of candles, their flames flickering and dancing in the draught from the opening door. After making sure he’s not interrupting, Daniel slips in quickly, closing the door behind him.
He doesn’t remember Teal’c any more than he does the rest of the people who claim they’re his friends, but he needs someone to talk to, and no one else is about at this late hour. It seems General Hammond, Sam, and Jim don’t live on the base. It makes him wonder where he used to live, before… whatever happened to him. He’s still not entirely clear about that, or much of anything else, if he’s honest. He just… needs to remember, somehow.
Talking to people who know him helps, a little, even when they don’t seem to want to tell him much. Maybe they’re right and he needs to figure out as much as he can for himself. Now that he remembers Sha’re’s name, he’s more hopeful on that score; there’s a good chance everything else is still there, just blocked, or locked away where he can’t get at it unless he can find the key.
He has no idea what that key might be. Perhaps he’ll know it when he finds it, and everything from his past will simply open up to him, filling his mind with the memories he’s lost. Or perhaps not. He’s a stranger to himself, which is sort of weird. But here, in the light of all these candles, and with a bit of help from someone who was once his friend, and hopefully will be again, maybe he can start to rediscover some of what he’s lost.
The End

He’s a stranger to himself, which is sort of weird. But here, in the light of all these candles, and with a bit of help from someone who was once his friend, and hopefully will be again, maybe he can start to rediscover some of what he’s lost. Such a strong and hopeful conclusion :)
