Della19: "... And then she makes an effort to brighten up, this remarkable little girl and asks, cheeky little smile on her face, the smile of a shared secret, 'So how’s the war coming along?'"
Summary: Cersei attends Jaime and Brienne's engagement party and plots her own war on their relationship.
They don’t invite her to the engagement party, but she shows up anyway, wearing an all black dress with a plunging neckline. This night is, for all intents and purposes, a funeral. She is going to bury Brienne Tarth. If she were a queen in the old days of Westeros, Cersei would have her head cut off and put on a spike to rot in the Sun. Every day, the sight and the stench would be a reminder to everyone that Jaime is hers, that they are one soul in two bodies and no part of him will belong to anyone else.
She feels the air completely leave the room when she walks through the door, an hour into the night. Father and Tyrion scoff from across the room, guests halt their conversation only to start whispering in urgency. Jaime and that woman haven't arrived yet.
Cersei takes a glass of champagne from a passing waiter, relishes the way that she can throw her power around. She takes a seat next to Olenna Tyrell, one of the few people that she can almost respect. To her credit, the old woman dismisses her grandson to ‘get her something to drink’.
“How’s your war going, my dear?” Olenna asks casually. She looks meaningfully at Cersei's dress, at the other Lannisters holding court while she, always straddling between Lannister and Baratheon, exiles herself to a table with the lowly Tyrells. Cersei regards her coolly and sips her wine, but doesn’t respond.
“My apologies,” Olenna says after a moment. “I understand the pain of losing a husband, then putting on armor to go on the attack.”
Cersei knows that Olenna is talking about her losing to Jaime’s supposed fiance, even though to anyone listening, it sounds as though she’s referencing Robert’s recent death. Cersei smiles, remembering the episode of television that had taught her potassium chloride could fake a heart attack. And then remembering the coroner who had been amenable to list Robert’s death as such.
“The war is off to a slow start, but I’m willing to wait,” Cersei admits, just as her love and his love are announced. “In these types of wars, you either win or you die. It’s best to take one’s time with such things.”
The two of them share a private smile, each hardened warriors in their own right. Cersei is going to absolutely murder Brienne Tarth and she's going to enjoy doing it.

Also - Would I be eligible for a name tag with this challenge or do Amnesty rounds not count in the three consecutive challenges?

And yes, the amnesty round absolutely qualifies for purposes of a name tag! I'm running a bit behind because the mod who would usually be tagging this round is afk, so I'm here by myself. I'll get the entry tagged properly later this evening, and we'll put your name tag on the closing post for next round. Sorry for the delay!
