Air Challenge: Original Work: Poetry: Peregrine
Title: Peregrine
Fandom: Original Work
Rating: Gen
Length: 70
Content Notes: Double reversed etheree.
Summary: A poem about a peregrine falcon trained in falconry.
Winged hunter circles above, waiting on
the flush that stirs winged quarry below.
His reins, pinions, long, pointed, dark.
A flutter faint, a twist deft.
Descent, quiet, measured.
The predator primed.
Silent shadow.
Daggers drawn,
Ready.
dive!
snap!
Flicker.
Onyx orbs
Aged, ageless stealth.
The prey unawares.
Aim, precise, unerring.
Hark! Vigilance rewarded!
His steed, currents of thick, hot air.
his vast estate from cathedraled peaks.
Gentil nobleman aloft, surveying

Thank you! I have wanted to write a poem about falcons since I got to hold one when I went on holiday. When I saw the form, I knew that was the one I wanted because it looked like wings on the page.

I particularly admire your last three lines: I love the imagery.
