Twilight: Fanfiction: Yellow Glow
Title: Yellow Glow
Fandom: Twilight
Rating: G
Length: 360
Content notes: Jessica Stanley, Isabella Swan, supernatural. first person narration
Summary: Bella's skin is glowing. But not in a great way...
“Is your skin… glowing?”
I blinked at Jess for a moment, destabilized by the non-sequitur. It wasn’t that she never made comments about my appearance, but those weren’t words she usually used, more concerned by the pallor of my skin.
“Weird way to say it but thank you? I’m trying some new skincare products.”
It was even true, somewhat. But before I could try to remember the name of the cream I’d used three days ago, she interrupted me.
“No I mean…”
She made a vague hand motion, the meaning of which I couldn’t figure out. It seemed both exasperated, surprised and confused. Jess had always had very expressive hands. “Your skin actually is yellow. Like glowing. Golden. From the inside out.”
I looked at my hand. It was still pale as ever , not even the hope of a tan with Forks’s perpetually covered sky. I could see some blue veins under the skin, but certainly none of that yellow glow Jessica was mentioning.
I looked back at her, hoping for a clearer answer only to be faced with her phone instead. “Jess, what are you-“
“Look!” she cut me off, moving by my side to show me the picture. “It’s not your arm, it’s just your-“
What the hell is up with my neck.
I didn’t say it out loud, too stunned by what I was seeing to actually answer. There, just a bit under my Adam’s apple, was a faint glowing light. I swallowed, wondering if it was attached to it or deeper in my throat.
“Are you sure that’s not your phone?” I asked faintly. Hoping for a positive answer.
“No it’s not because I saw it with my eyes first, Bella,” Jessica chided, moving her fingers across her screen to show my current face instead.
And there it was. A faint glow, almost pulsing if I squinted, but definitely there if barely visible. It barely moved when I swallowed as well, like it was somewhere in my trachea instead of under my skin.
It was freaky.
“You can’t tell anyone,” I told Jessica, squeezing her hand in mine.

Oh man, so spooky. I wonder why she's glowing? Is it an effect of the vampirism (ages since I read Twilight) or just a random weird thing?
